I have fallen in love with Dozi Design! She makes original paper goods with delicious colors and clean crisp designs. Check out her pocket jotters - hand-bound little notebooks perfect for slipping in your purse. As a perpetual list maker, I always love a good blank book! She also has fantastic notecards and house gift tags! Visit her shop here.

Okay, so I have to admit, since I’m having a baby I’m especially tuned into baby things! But you must agree that this midcentury modern ranch onesie from Tiny Modernist is the coolest thing ever! You can choose the color and size of your onesie and they will lovingly add the handmade felt applique. They also offer kids tees and onesies featuring modern furniture, an array of cute little mod dresses, and modern furniture cross stitch patterns…perfect for that little modernist in your life!

I Love…Lucy Bird Photography!

Today’s spotlight is Lucy Bird Photography. She has all kinds of gorgeous photos, but of course we’re going to focus on the architectural ones. What I love about Lucy’s photos is the way she captures color. Everything is so rich…and she doesn’t do any digital altering! As you can see, I’m especially entranced by the ones that have an eery quality to them. If that’s not your thing, she’s got lots of cheerier photos (like cute garden gnomes!). Check out her etsy shop and the blog she and her husband write together.

I Love…Please Be Still!

As a girl whose heart goes all a flutter for midcentury modern design, you can imagine my delight at finding these beautiful prints by Please Be Still on etsy! The Red Door print from her Between These Walls series (shown above) is my favorite, with its delicious color palette and line drawn modern houses in the background.

If you’re a modern furniture junkie, check out her Modern Design Deck prints featuring the 20th century’s most notable designers. When I lived in France I had a whole class on Le Corbusier, so I’ve got a soft spot in my heart for his designs.

In addition to her shop, be sure to visit her blog, 365, where she posts a new image of her fantastic artwork every single day.

This week I’m excited to spotlight a local Portland artist, a.t. whim. Full of imagination, her amazing whimsical prints feature lots of trees and tree headed girls and look like they could be from pages of gorgeous children’s books.

Check out all of her current prints in her etsy shop and if you’re in Portland, you can see them in person at Powell’s Books at Cedar Hills Crossing in Beaverton!

I Love…Norsola Johnson’s This Way Home Series

Did anybody love to play Monopoly as much as I did when you were little? My dad was good at buying up lots of hotels and houses, while I was more drawn to the cuteness of the little game pieces and purchasing property when I liked the color of the squares (that’s a good way to invest in real estate! haha!).  Norsola Johnson’s This Way Home Series reminds me of those adorable little house pieces all grown up and ready to wear.

She has lots of other beautiful modern jewelry in her shop if the houses aren’t quite you’re thing. (Check out the fuzzball rings!)

…and if you want some of her cute jewelry, you’d better hurry! She’s heading off on an adventure on April 9th and will be closing her shop for a few months.

When I discovered etsy, one of the first artists to catch my eye was the very talented Matte Stephens. He has amazing color palettes, adorable subject matter (often birds, cats, and his wife Vivienne), and a fabulous retro modern style.  And if creating such lovelies wasn’t already enough, he has shared his gorgeous house and some tasty recipes with design*sponge. Take a moment to check out his website and etsy shop. It will be worth your while!

I have the good fortune of working just a ways down the street from one of the cutest shops in Portland, Noun! They have a beautiful collection of hand picked vintage housewares and furniture, handmade jewelry and accessories, and amazing treasures. Not to mention they share the space with Saint Cupcake, so you can get your sugar fix while you shop! Noun is also the sole retailer in Oregon of Big Chill’s retro fabulous refrigerator. Their floor model is pink, but it comes in a delicious array of colors! If I could choose any appliance for my kitchen it would certainly be one of these! Does it get any better than a pink fridge, vintage and handmade goodies, and cupcakes in the same place? No, my friends, it does not.

Noun is located at 3300 SE Belmont, Portland, OR. Please visit their website for store hours and more information.

Ashleyg’s profile on etsy about drawing as a child and the creatures she created and imagined living in old tree trunks in her backyard is such an enchanting story. It makes me appreciate her lovely illustrations and paintings even more. She has lots of amazing prints to choose from in her etsy shop. I discover new favorites every time I look at them. She also has a new website, Ashley G and Drew.
